Donation Coordinator Assistant
Assist the donation coordinator to organize and sort through basic needs items and household goods as they are received from our generous donors. The items we receive assist the clients in our programs and help welcome individuals and families home as they move into housing. With your help, we can ensure items are sorted quickly and distributed to those who need them in a timely manner. This position has flexible daytime hours that will be worked out between the volunteer and the development assistant who leads the project. A weekly commitment for 3 months is requested.
Spend a night at the shelter (6 pm – 7 am) working with an experienced volunteer, serving the needs of shelter guests, and assisting shelter staff in the operation of the shelter. Volunteer duties include recording guest check-in, answering the phone, distributing mail, locating needed supplies, setting out coffee and breakfast in the morning, passing out bag lunches, and providing hospitality to guests. Experience working with individuals who are homeless and/or living with mental health issues is a plus, but training is provided. Volunteers work at least one shift per month. A six month commitment is requested.
Round It Up Donation Coordinator
Promote collections of household items needed by clients moving into their own housing OR goods needed by men at our emergency shelter. We can provide you with annual reports, newsletters, and brochures for your drive. Choose a few items to collect. Coordinate, organize and promote the drive at your workplace, church or school. Deliver the items to St. Stephen's Human Services. Items needed include: hygiene items (toothbrushes & toothpaste, deodorant, women’s hygiene, shampoo, etc), household cleaning supplies, pillows*, matching sheets*, towels*, dishes*, pots & pans*, silverware*, sleeping bags*, backpacks*, men's white socks, men's underwear - all sizes. (*Denotes gently used items are accepted).
